Do I have to take my clothes off?

Not if you really don’t want to. For Cranio-Sacral therapy, you will keep your clothes on. Make sure you wear loose comfortable clothes for this treatment. For Therapeutic, and frozen shoulder treatments, the more you take off the easier it will be for me to get into your tissues to help release them. If you choose to keep your clothes on, I can still work on you, I will just work around what you are wearing. Those who wear bras, if you would prefer to keep your bra on, go ahead and leave your shirt on too. Compression is easier over clothing. Most of my clients will leave their boxers or panties on and take everything else off, or take everything off, including their undies. I will keep you covered. I will do my best to help you feel comfortable regardless of how much or little you are wearing.

Where can I put my stuff?

Great question! I have a chair in the corner and multiple upholstered chests along the walls of the treatment room that are all great places for your belongings. Don’t worry though, if you put your things in an inconvenient place, it is perfectly fine, I will just respectfully move them.

How often should I get massage treatment?

When I am asked this question, I like to say, “Think about how often you feel like you need it, then think about how often you feel like you can afford it, and find a happy medium. Once a month is a good maintenance plan for many people, but if you’re trying to treat a specific problem, more often will be more beneficial. In the end, anything is better than nothing. I can’t pretend to know your budget.”

Do I have to tip?

No, I ask for the amount I expect to be paid for the treatment you receive. If you do choose to tip, I will take it as an incredible compliment. I am extremely grateful for, and humbled by tips.

Are there any cancellation fees?

I try to be understanding for canceled appointments. I currently have a 50% cancelation fee for canceled appointments within 24 hours or no call no show appointments.

What should I expect on my first visit?

I will ask you to undress (see “Do I have to take my clothes off?”) and direct you how to lay on the table. Please make sure you get between the sheets. If you are undressed, you must be covered by the top sheet.

Where do I put my arms during my massage?

You may put them wherever you feel most comfortable. You’re not even committed to your first location choice. If you want to move your arms, go ahead and move them. I can work around them. Make yourself comfortable.

If I experience claustrophobia, do I have to put my face in the face cradle?

No. If you are claustrophobic, by all means let me know. We can adjust the treatments and positioning to accommodate your comfort zone.

Do I shower beforehand?

If you stink, by all means. If you don’t stink, please don’t because I’m going to put oil on you, and you will want to take a shower after your massage.

Alcohol consumption before?

Please do not consume alcohol within 24 hours of a massage. Massage increases your circulation and will cause extra stress on your kidneys and liver if there is alcohol present.

What if I am sick?

Massage can increase the symptoms of illness. If you are sick, please reschedule.

Should I shave my legs before?

Please do not shave right before a massage. Massage soon after shaving can cause skin infections.

What type of therapy is best for me?

Therapeutic Message: This is a standard massage. I will communicate with you for your depth preference. This is a full body massage. I will work every (appropriate) part of your body to determine which tissues need special attention. I will focus on tight, painful areas more than areas that are not tight or painful. If you deal with a lot of regularly painful muscles, you may want to consider the 90-minute or 120 minute options, rather than 60 minutes.

Lymphatic Drainage: The 60 minute lymphatic drainage treatment is done entirely on the front of the body. The 90 minute treatment is done both front and back. This is a gentle therapy that encourages lymphatic flow. This is effective for swelling, post-operation, scar reduction, and  immune boosting.

Frozen Shoulder Treatment: the 60-minute frozen shoulder treatment is for the upper body only. I will work your back and front and back of your shoulders. The 90-minute frozen shoulder treatment is similar to the 60 minute treatment, but you will get a full body massage in addition to the shoulder protocol. This treatment is good for people who deal with shoulder pain, and reduced range of motion in their shoulders on a regular basis. You do not need to actually be suffering from frozen shoulder to find benefit from this treatment.

Cranio-Sacral Therapy: This therapy has been proven helpful for those who suffer from anxiety, depression, ADD, ADHD, PTSD and many other conditions. It is extremely relaxing. It is also great for people who want to keep their clothes on. You will remain clothed for this treatment. Please wear loose, comfortable clothing. Be aware, this is a light therapy. If you are looking for someone to “dig” into deep, tight tissues, you will probably be disappointed. That being said, you may want to give it a chance at least once. I personally love receiving deep tissue treatments, however I was surprised by how good I felt after my first Cranio-Sacral treatment.

Genetic Functional Testing: Using a testing method developed by Dr. Marc Harris MD ND PHD PHD PHD, I will test you for genetic mutations that cause disease and autoimmune disorders and supplement to help support nutritionally.

6-Steps Functional Testing: Using a method developed by Dr John Brimhall DC, I will test for imbalances in the 6-Steps to Wellness (Structural, Nutritional, Electromagnetic, Emotional, Allergies and sensitivities, and Heavy metals and Environmental toxins) and balance using various tools and supplements.

Prenatal Massage: This massage is intended for pregnant women. This is performed in a side-lying position with various pillows and bolsters for maximum comfort.

Trigger Point Therapy: This technique is deep static pressure to get knots to release.

Cupping: This is the use of suction cups to encourage knots to release. If you schedule this therapy it will be a therapeutic massage that includes the use of cups.

Fascial Scraping: this therapy will be a therapeutic massage that includes the use of fascial scrapers. This is done to break up fascial adhesions that cause widespread typically unexplained pain.

Detox Footbath: This therapy is a 30-minute session with the use of a detox footbath machine to draw toxins out of your body through your feet. You can stack this back to back with either a foot massage or a full body massage.
